Xu Xu in New Zealand
I've just realised that my last post was my 100th. I've also been out of internet access of late so here's a wee update of where and what. I'm in Christchurch New Zealand, where it's bitterly cold at the moment. I'm working for a mate on a building site, where I've learnt about joists, purlins, dwangs, and the importance of a warm hat. Fortunately I still have my trusty Czech Zmiovka.

what the hell is a dwang?
The long joists are running lengthwise, the dwangs are short cuts of joist timber placed between the joists to make lines if timber running at 90 degrees to the joists, keeping them from bowing, as well as adding strength and keeping everything square.
That's a noggin, ya flamin' drongo!
They're good for resting coffee cups on until the plaster goes up, too.
Round here a noggin is your head! An where you might call plasterboard gyprock, in these parts it's simply known as gib.
